Teck SNY, et al. - In this retrospective study, the researchers investigated the prevalence of occult colorectal cancer in patients with computed tomography (CT)-proven acute uncomplicated diverticulitis in an Asian population. Between 2007 and 2011, patients admitted for CT-proven acute uncomplicated diverticulitis in a single institution were involved. Participants in the study were 227 subjects with acute uncomplicated diverticulitis. Researchers reported that prevalence of colorectal cancer in patients with CT-proven acute uncomplicated diverticulitis might not be as low as previously suggested. Patients with acute uncomplicated diverticulitis continue to be offered interval colonoscopy was recommended until the point that bigger examinations exhibit the safety of omission.
