Prevalence of cardiovascular disease and evaluation of standard of care in type 2 diabetes: A nationwide study in primary care
Cardiovascular Endocrinology Dec 08, 2017
Rungby J, et al. - Researchers undertook this study to evaluate the prevalence and standard of care of patients with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease (CVD) managed in primary care. A high (21.4%) prevalence of CVD was being reported in patients with type 2 diabetes and the standard of care was largely in accordance with national guidelines. Existing electronic patient record systems allowed the detection of eligible patients. It was concluded that identification of and treatment optimization in this high-risk subgroup of patients with type 2 diabetes might add further cardiovascular benefits as suggested by recent cardiovascular outcome trials.
