Prevalence of asthma-like symptoms with ageing
Thorax Oct 17, 2017
Jarvis D, et al. - This study focused on the prevalence of asthma-like symptoms in populations of ageing adults. Over the last 20 years, less wheeze was experienced by European adults born between 1946 and 1970, although asthma attacks, use of asthma medication and hay fever were more likely in these subjects. Decrease in wheeze was largely ascribed to smoking cessation, rather than improved treatment of asthma. Data also suggested that it may also be affected by reductions in atopy with ageing.
