Prevalence of anthracycline-related cardiac dysfunction in long-term survivors of adult-onset lymphoma
Cancer Nov 10, 2017
Armenian SH, et al. - This study was designed to determine the prevalence and risk of cardiac dysfunction, as measured by echocardiography (abnormal left ventricular systolic/diastolic function or strain), in lymphoma survivors who received treatment with anthracyclines and to assess the diagnostic yield of blood biomarkers in the asymptomatic setting. Findings revealed a high rate of cardiac dysfunction that was independent of hematopoietic cell transplantation status in these long-term survivors. In view of growing number of lymphoma survivors, it seemed crucial to identify reliable and cost-effective strategies to reduce the burden of heart failure in this population.
