Prevalence of alcoholic fatty liver disease among adults in the United States, 2001-2016
JAMA May 11, 2019
Wong T, et al. – Alcoholic liver disease (ALD) is a leading cause of US mortality, with ~250,000 ALD deaths reported in 2010. The overall clinical burden of ALD in the United States remains unclear, possibly due to the absence of a definitive standard for ALD identification. Thus, in order to determine ALD burden among US adults, researchers focused on identifying the prevalence of the specific, more well-defined subset of alcoholic fatty liver disease (AFLD).
