Lupus Apr 29, 2020
Juthong S, Geater AF, Dekumyoy P, et al. - As strongyloidiasis can be fatal in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients, researchers investigated the prevalence and correlaed factors of strongyloidiasis among SLE patients in Southern Thailand. They conducted a cross-sectional study including 180 SLE patients attending the Rheumatology Clinic at Songklanagarind Hospital. Combined parasitology and/or serology revealed the overall prevalence of strongyloidiasis of 15.6%. This suggests a high prevalence of strongyloidiasis among the SLE population. The rate of diagnosis of strongyloidiasis increases in SLE patients with a combination of serological and parasitological methods.
