PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases Nov 10, 2020
Desta M, Amha H, Bishaw KA, et al. - Researchers conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses 2009 checklist with the aim to determine the pooled prevalence and predictor of uterine rupture in Ethiopia. Searching PubMed, Cochrane Library, Google Scholar, and African Journals Online databases, they identified 16 studies, with a total of 91,784 women, for inclusion in the meta-analysis. Findings revealed the pooled prevalence of 2% for uterine rupture suggesting still high incidence of uterine rupture in Ethiopia. The Amhara regional state showed the highest prevalence (5%) and Tigray region had the lowest (1%). Following were identified as predictors of uterine rupture: previous cesarean delivery, lack of antenatal care visit, rural residence, grand multiparity and obstructed labor.
