Prevalence and predictors of inappropriate anticoagulation in patients with a CHA2DS2-VASc score of 0 and atrial fibrillation
International Journal of Cardiology Aug 26, 2017
Saberian S et al. – This retrospective study (2009–2016) determined the true prevalence and predictors of inappropriate anticoagulation therapy in patients with atrial fibrillation and a CHA2DS2–VASc score of 0 (N = 512). Anticoagulant therapy was inappropriately prescribed in 12% of patients with a CHA2DS2–VASc score of 0. Age, body mass index, absence of current aspirin use, and persistent atrial fibrillation were independent predictors of unnecessary anticoagulation.
