Prevalence and pharmaceutical treatment of plantar fasciitis in United States adults

Nahin RL - Prevalence estimates of plantar fasciitis were presented for United States (U.S.) adults. Researchers also provided the types and frequencies of pharmaceutical treatment specifically for this pain using the data are from the 2013 National Health and Wellness Survey. Most individuals with plantar fasciitis reported a least moderate daily pain. Disease severity was observed to be associated with pharmaceutical therapy. The more severe disease was observed among blacks and individuals diagnosed by medical specialists. These two groups more frequently received pharmaceutical therapy. NSAIDs (4.01%) and opioids (2.21%) were the most prevalent prescription drugs used specifically for plantar fasciitis pain.
