Prevalence and incidence of clinically significant patulous Eustachian tube: A population-based study using the Korean National Health Insurance Claims Database
American Journal of Otolaryngology Jul 16, 2018
Choi SW, et al. - Authors ascertained the entire population-based prevalence and incidence of Patulous Eustachian tube (PET) using the Korean National Health Insurance (NHI) claims database. They also investigated the annual trends of prevalence and incidence of PET. As per data, a substantial annual increase in NHI claims was seen with PET code (H69.0) in Korea from 2010 to 2016. Compared to men, the high prevalence and incidence rates of clinically significant PET were confirmed in women; as seen in statistical results based on the NHI claims. Only the patient using the medical service for PET were covered and PET sufferers not seeking medical service were missed. Nonetheless, basic epidemiological information on clinically significant PET could be provided in the findings.
