Prevalence and correlates of meeting sleep, screen-time, and physical activity guidelines among adolescents in the United Kingdom
JAMA Pediatrics Oct 13, 2019
Pearson N, et al. - The prevalence and associates of meeting sleep, screen time (ST), and physical activity guidelines among adolescents in the UK were determined by researchers. Convincing evidence exists that modifiable lifestyle habits, like sleep, moderate to vigorous physical activity (MVPA), and ST, are related to adolescents physical, social, and mental health outcomes. Much of this proof, however, comes from independently examining behaviors. Due to their possible synergistic effects on health, the significance of combinations of these behaviors is increasing. In order to improve the health of adolescents, it is important to better understand the determinants of combinations of behaviors. Few nationally representative data on the prevalence of meeting combinations of suggestions for sleep, ST, and MVPA were there, but, little is known about the related contextual factors.
