Preservation vs non-preservation of left colic artery in sigmoid and rectal cancer surgery: A meta-analysis
International Journal of Surgery | Mar 08, 2018
Fan YC, et al. - This meta-analysis was conducted to compare the oncologic, intra-operative, and safety outcomes in sigmoid and rectal cancer surgery with and without preservation of the left colic artery (LCA). In comparison with ligating the left colic artery, preserving the left colic artery appeared to achieve comparable success with acceptable safety outcomes. It was thus suggested to preserve the LCA in sigmoid and rectal cancer surgeries.
