Preoperative soluble VCAM ‐1 contributes to predict late mortality after coronary artery surgery

Clinical Cardiology Aug 12, 2020

Corbalan R, Garcia M, Garrido‐Olivares L, et al. - Whether the risk of future all‐cause mortality and cardiovascular mortality could be predicted by preoperative soluble vascular cell adhesion molecule‐1 among patients submitted to elective coronary artery bypass surgery, was investigated in this study. Researchers assessed the prognostic role of preoperative soluble vascular cell adhesion molecule‐1, inflammatory markers, CHA2DS2‐VASc score and occurrence of postoperative atrial fibrillation (POAF). In this analysis of patients submitted to coronary artery bypass surgery, raised circulating levels of preoperative soluble vascular cell adhesion molecule‐1, together with POAF and CHA2DS2‐VASc score, were shown to be significantly related to future all‐cause mortality and cardiovascular mortality.
