Preoperative predictors of failure of microsurgical spermatic cord denervation for men with chronic orchialgia
Urology Dec 05, 2020
Kavoussi PK, et al. - This study was undertaken to investigate the predictors of failure of microsurgical spermatic cord denervation (MSCD) for men with chronic orchialgia. Researchers conducted a retrospective chart review of men who had undergone MSCD. Outcomes with potential preoperative predictors of failure were noted. They included 105 men who had undergone MSCD, and of those, 38 were bilateral for a total of 143 testicular units. This study’s findings revealed that postvasectomy pain syndrome is an etiology correlated with a higher risk of failure to respond to MSCD than idiopathic chronic orchialgia or chronic orchialgia subsequent to scrotal/inguinal surgery.
