Preoperative neutrophil lymphocyte ratio but not platelet lymphocyte ratio predicts survival and early relapse in patients with oral, pharyngeal, and lip cancer
Head & Neck Apr 21, 2019
Yu W, et al. - Researchers retrospectively studied clinic-pathologic and hematological records to assess the prognostic value of the preoperative neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) in oral, pharyngeal, and lip cancer for survival and early relapse. For both overall survival and relapse-free survival, the preoperative NLR value was a prognostic factor. Higher total relapse rate, higher local relapse rate, and higher relapse rate within 12 months were demonstrated in the high NLR group. Although, they did not observe an association between the preoperative PLR and survival or relapse.
