Preoperative neutrophil–lymphocyte and platelet–lymphocyte ratios as independent predictors of T stages in hilar cholangiocarcinoma
Cancer Management and Research Jun 08, 2019
Huang H, et al. - In this retrospective analysis of patients (n=101) who were surgically managed for hilar cholangiocarcinoma, researchers focused on the link between preoperative inflammatory markers (neutrophil–lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet–lymphocyte ratio (PLR)) and various American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) T stages. Advanced AJCC T stages were independently predicted by higher NLR and PLR, as revealed in multivariate analysis. For different AJCC T stages, a sensitivity of 75.9% and specificity of 66.7% was shown by NLR at a threshold of 2.75, these values were 65.5% and 80.6%, respectively, for PLR at a threshold of 172.25. Overall, it is valid to use preoperative NLR and PLR as independent predictors of different AJCC T stages in patients with hilar cholangiocarcinoma.
