Preoperative methylprednisolone increases plasma Pentraxin PTX3 early after total knee arthroplasty: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial
Clinical and Experimental Immunology Oct 21, 2017
Lindberg-Larsen V, et al. - In this study, researchers assessed early postoperative changes in pentraxin-3 (PTX3) and other complement marker in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) patients who received methylprednisolone (MP) preoperatively. Findings demonstrated that early after TKA, increased circulating PTX3 and reduced general inflammatory response (CRP) were evident as consequences of preoperative administration of MP 125 mg, however, no influence was seen on other complement markers.
