Preoperative incidence of deep venous thrombosis in bladder cancer patients undergoing radical cystectomy
Urology Mar 22, 2018
Schomburg JL, et al. - The pre-operative incidence of subclinical lower-extremity deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in bladder cancer patients before undergoing radical cystectomy was determined. The utility of pre-operative DVT screening was also assessed. A significant number of pre-cystectomy patients were noted to have subclinical DVTs, especially those exposed to neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Screening ultrasound can help identify DVT/VTE in patients prior to undergoing radical cystectomy.
