Preoperative hypoalbuminemia was associated with acute kidney injury in high-risk patients following non-cardiac surgery: A retrospective cohort study
BMC Anesthesiology Sep 09, 2019
Li N, Qiao H, Guo JF, et al. - Using multivariate Logistic regression models, researchers examined the link between preoperative hypoalbuminemia and acute kidney injury (AKI) after non-cardiac surgery. Participants were 729 consecutive adult patients who had non-cardiac surgery from July 1, 2017, to June 30, 2018. In these people, perioperative risk factors and preoperative serum albumin level were retrospectively evaluated. The development of AKI occurred in 188 patients (25.8%). In multivariate logistic regression analysis, an independent link of preoperative serum albumin < 37.5 g/L with postoperative AKI was revealed. They also found poor outcomes in correlation with the presence of postoperative AKI.
