Preoperative diagnosis can predict conversion total knee arthroplasty outcomes
Journal of Arthroplasty Sep 01, 2017
Ge DH, et al. – This study assessed the prognostic impact of posttraumatic osteoarthritis and previous knee surgery in conversion total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Among patients who underwent conversion TKA, a greater likelihood of surgical site complications and 90–day readmissions was associated with previous site–specific fracture versus previous soft tissue knee trauma. Regardless of preoperative diagnosis, multiple previous knee surgeries appeared to serve as an independent factor in the selection of costlier implants.
