Preoperative assessment of CD44-mediated depth of invasion as predictor of occult metastases in early oral squamous cell carcinoma
Head & Neck Dec 22, 2018
Morand GB, et al. - Authors analyzed the oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) cases by using a multivariable logistic regression model to assess if CT and/or MRI could predict DOI preoperatively and the prognostic influence of CD44 (a cancer stem-like cells [CSC] biomarker) on the depth of invasion (DOI) and outcome in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). They observed a correlation between CD44 expression and DOI predicting lymph node metastasis and preoperative CT and/or MRI provided an accurate estimation of histopathological DOI indicating profitable for the surgeons in respect to surgical management of the neck.
