Hung HY, et al. - This study was performed to evaluate preoperative serum alkaline phosphatase (ALP) levels in colon adenocarcinoma patients with various clinical features and determine its prognostic value. The authors concluded that elevated preoperative ALP levels were not only correlated with liver disease, but it was also related to advanced tumor status and showed a poor survival in colon and rectal cancer patients.
