Preoperative albumin-to-fibrinogen ratio predicts severe postoperative complications in elderly gastric cancer individuals after radical laparoscopic gastrectomy
BMC Cancer Sep 27, 2019
You X, et al. - Researchers examined elderly patients (≥ 65 years) with primary gastric cancer (GC) who underwent elective radical laparoscopic gastrectomy under general anesthesia to assess potential risk factors including albumin-to-fibrinogen ratio (AFR) for severe postoperative complications (SPCs) in surgical GC patients. Among a total of 365 included elderly patients, 52 (52/365, 14.2%) patients developed SPCs within postoperative 30 days. As per the multivariate analysis, two independent predictive factors for SPCs in surgical GC patients were lower AFR level (OR: 1.94) and older age (OR: 1.81).
