Prenatal diagnosis of arachnoid cysts: MRI features and neurodevelopmental outcome
European Journal of Radiology Feb 28, 2019
Yahal O, et al. - In this retrospective cohort study, investigators estimated the arachnoid cysts (AC) and their neurodevelopmental outcome and compared it with the consequence of children without AC. They noticed 4 infants with a normal outcome, 2 with an abnormal outcome, 1 pregnancy was terminated, and 2 cases were not cooperative with the study in group A (cases with a supratentorial cyst). A normal outcome in 13 infants, the abnormal outcome in 3, and 4 cases were noncooperative with the study in group B (cases with an infratentorial cyst). They concluded 77.3% of cases with a normal neurodevelopmental outcome and 22.7% had abnormal neurodevelopment in cases with AC detected by fetal MRI.
