Prehospital prediction of severe injury in road traffic injuries: A multicenter cross-sectional study
Injury May 31, 2019
Atiksawedparit P, et al. - Researchers sought to develop and validate a risk stratification model of severe injury (SI) and death for road traffic injury (RTI) subjects so that these patients could be identified and prioritized for transportation to an appropriate trauma center. They used a total of 5,359 and 2,097 RTIs for development and external validation, respectively. The prediction scores included ten predictors, which could easily be assessed at the scene by emergency medical service personnel. The risk prediction models of death and SI revealed good calibration and excellent discrimination. These models seem valuable for advanced life support response units for proper allocation of patients.
