Prehospital antibiotics in the ambulance for sepsis: A multicentre, open label, randomised trial

Alam N, et al. - This trial was conducted to compare the impacts of early administration of antibiotics in the ambulance with usual care in patients with sepsis. Findings revealed that early recognition and care in the whole acute care chain were improved as a result of emergency medical services (EMS) personnel training, in patients with varying severity of sepsis. However, regardless of illness severity, survival did not improve when antibiotics were administered in the ambulance.
