Pregnancy in systemic sclerosis: Results of a systematic review and metaanalysis
The Journal of Rheumatology Jun 05, 2020
Blagojevic J, AlOdhaibi KA, Aly AM, et al. - Via performing a systematic literature search and metaanalysis, researchers sought to determine maternal and fetal outcomes in pregnancies involving systemic sclerosis (SSc) > in addition, they determined how pregnancy affects disease activity, and sought predictors of fetal and maternal outcomes. From 1950 to February 1, 2018, they identified 461 publications; of these, 16 were included in the metaanalysis. Outcomes revealed increased frequency of miscarriages, intrauterine growth retardation, preterm deliveries, and newborns with low birth weight among pregnancies involving SSc vs healthy controls. Gestational hypertension (HTN) and cesarean delivery were more frequently reported among women with SSc. Most patients had improved or stable disease manifestations.
