Pregnancy and postpartum outcomes in a universally tested population for SARS‐CoV‐2 in New York City: A prospective cohort study
BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Jul 19, 2020
Prabhu M, Cagino K, Matthews KC, et al. - Pregnancy outcomes among women with vs without COVID‐19 were investigated. Researchers here assessed 675 women who were admitted for delivery at three New York City hospitals. Among these women, 10.4% were positive for SARS‐CoV‐2, of whom 78.6% were asymptomatic. Observations revealed increased cesarean delivery rates and increased frequency of maternal complications in the postpartum period among pregnant women with COVID‐19 at delivery. In addition, they suggest possibility of maternal and fetal implications of intraplacental thrombi for COVID‐19 infections remote from delivery.
