Pregnancy‐induced hypertension and retinopathy of prematurity: A meta‐analysis
Acta Ophthalmologica Mar 10, 2021
Ge G, et al. - In this systematic review and meta-analysis, experts aspired to explore whether pregnancy‐induced hypertension (PIH) was associated with retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), one of the leading causes of childhood blindness, by summarizing all available evidence. All related studies published from inception to April 2020 were searched in the PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, EBSCO, and SCOPUS databases. Studies examining the connection between PIH and ROP were involved. In total, 29 studies were finally incorporated for the meta‐analysis after study selection. The conclusion of this meta-analysis was inconclusive, and further research is required to reach a conclusion about the impact of maternal PIH on ROP and promote a better understanding of ROP prevention.
