Predominantly cystic clear cell renal cell carcinoma and multilocular cystic renal neoplasm of low malignant potential form a low-grade spectrum
Virchows Archiv May 24, 2018
Tretiakova M, et al. - Researchers aimed to investigate the significance of extensive true cystic component in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (CCRCC) via analyzing 57 multilocular cystic renal neoplasm of low malignant potential (MCRNLMP), 69 predominantly cystic CCRCC (pc-CCRCC), and 46 non-cystic CCRCC. This large series of MCRNLMP confirms its indolent behavior. Findings revealed significantly better prognosis for pc-CCRCC than non-cystic CCRCC. Thus suggesting that pc-CCRCC may define the lower grade spectrum of CCRCC. Documentation of the presence and extent of CCRCC cystic component in the pathology report is recommended.
