Predominant bacteria and patterns of antibiotic susceptibility in urinary tract infection in children with spina bifida
Journal of Pediatric Urology Apr 26, 2018
Ortiz TK, et al. - Experts ascertained the epidemiology and antimicrobial resistance patterns of spina bifida (SB)-associated urinary pathogens. To compare rates of pathogen-associations with UTI between groups and likelihood of UTI with multi-drug resistant (MDR) organisms, experts performed the Chi-square tests and Generalized Estimating Equation analysis, controlling for clinicopathological factors. Compared to the general pediatric population, children with SB-neurogenic bladder (NB) were more likely to have non-E. coli UTI, UTIs with multi-drug resistant (MDR) organisms, and urosepsis.
