Predictors of surveillance mammography outcomes in women with a personal history of breast cancer
Breast Cancer Research and Treatment Jul 20, 2018
Lowry KP, et al. - Researchers investigated the factors that can predict poor mammography surveillance outcomes by looking at clinico-pathologic features. They reviewed the medical records of a cohort of women with American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) Stage I or II invasive breast cancer treated with breast conservation therapy who developed subsequent in-breast treatment recurrence (IBTR) or contralateral breast cancer (CBC). Findings demonstrated that the risk of poor surveillance mammography outcomes was evident among women younger than age 50 at primary breast cancer diagnosis and these subjects may need more intensive clinical and imaging surveillance.
