Predictors of smoking cessation: A longitudinal study in a large cohort of smokers
Respiratory Medicine Oct 25, 2017
Holm M, et al. - This study intended to analyze smoking cessation rate in relation to several potential predictors in a large cohort of smokers, specially focusing on respiratory and cardiovascular disease. In middle-aged smokers, successful smoking cessation was commonly reported, as well its relation to few smoking years and higher education. Neither a diagnosis of respiratory disease nor known cardiovascular risk factors motivated people to quit smoking, however, an acute episode of ischaemic heart disease encouraged smoking cessation in this study population.
