Predictors of positive 18F-FDG PET/CT-Scan for large vessel vasculitis in patients with persistent polymyalgia rheumatica
Seminars in Arthritis and Rheumatism May 28, 2018
Prieto-Peña D, et al. - Experts sought to ascertain the predictive factors of a positive positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) scan for large vessel vasculitis (LVV) in patients classified as having isolated Polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) according to well-established criteria. All patients included in the study underwent PET/CT scan between January 2010 and February 2018 based on clinical considerations. They excluded the patients with PMR related to other diseases, including those with cranial features of giant cell arteritis (GCA). Findings suggested that in PMR, the predictors of positive PET/CT scan for LVV were inflammatory low back pain, pelvic girdle and diffuse lower limb pain.
