Predictors of mortality for preterm infants with intraventricular hemorrhage: A population-based study
Child's Nervous System Jul 12, 2018
Han RH, et al. - Researchers analyzed issues impacting mortality in preterm infants with intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) in this longitudinal, population-level study. Using data from the New York and Nebraska State Inpatient Databases, patients who were born at 36 weeks estimated gestational age (EGA) or less with a diagnosis of IVH between the years 2005 and 2014 were involved. Data reported that increased mortality was independently correlated with risk male sex, Asian race, lower EGA, higher IVH grade, gastrostomy, tracheostomy, and shunt infection. In preterm infants with IVH, this database was the first of its kind put together for population-based study of long-term neurosurgical outcomes.
