Jain S, et al. – This investigation was planned to recognize long–term outcomes and their predictors after a first episode of acute severe colitis (ASC) in a large North Indian cohort. With a third undergoing colectomy at 10 years, disease behavior of ASC in India was similar to the West. Clinical features could predict both colectomy and steroid dependence with reasonable accuracy especially response at day 7 hospitalization for index ASC.
