Predictors of left ventricular remodeling after myocardial infarction in patients with a patent infarct related coronary artery after percutaneous coronary intervention (from the Post-Myocardial Infarction Remodeling Prevention Therapy [PRomPT] trial)
The American Journal of Cardiology Mar 11, 2018
Garber L, et al. - In view of the observation that left ventricular (LV) remodeling after myocardial infarction (MI) is a strong predictor of heart failure and mortality, researchers here sought for the predictors of long-term remodeling after MI. In this work, patients with large MI and an open infarct artery after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), anterior MI location and male sex were associated with greater baseline LV end-diastolic volume (LVEDV), but MI location was not observed to be associated with 18-month LVEDV. On the other hand, younger age, peak CPK, male sex, baseline LVEDV, and lack of statin use were identified to be associated with long-term LV remodeling.
