Predictors of ischemic stroke for low-risk patients with atrial fibrillation: A matched case-control study
Heart Rhythm Jan 22, 2021
Kwon S, Kim TJ, Choi EK, et al. - In "low-risk" atrial fibrillation (AF) patients, this research was sought to evaluate the factors correlated with ischemic stroke as well as the imaging characteristics of their ischemic strokes. Researchers performed a matched case-control study conducted at a single tertiary institution where 44 patients with de novo ischemic stroke and incidentally found AF with low-risk CHA 2DS 2-VASc scores were identified. They conducted a conditional multivariate logistic regression analysis to find predictors. The data exhibited that, in AF patients with low-risk CHA 2DS 2-VASc scores, smoking was the predictor linked with ischemic stroke, and was the only one seen In multivariate analysis.
