Predictors of increased length of hospital stay following laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy from the national surgical quality improvement program
Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery Dec 10, 2017
Fletcher R, et al. - Researchers here searched for the predictors of increased length of hospital stay following laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy from the national surgical quality improvement program. Preoperative patient characteristics and operative details seemed to predict the prolonged length of stay following laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. With an increase in the utilization of fast-track protocols in bariatric surgery programs, these data could help in the selection of patients who would be inappropriate for rapid discharge from the hospital after sleeve gastrectomy and could guide medical optimization strategies preoperatively.
