Predictors of extensive lymphatic dissemination and recurrences in node-positive endometrial cancer
Gynecologic Oncology Jul 22, 2019
Zanfagnin V, et al. - In node-positive endometrial cancer (EC), the factors that are predictive of extensive lymphatic dissemination and distant recurrences were determined in this study. For patients who had fully staged EC with at least 1 positive lymph node, the clinicopathologic data were gathered by the researchers. They also reviewed permanent sections of metastatic lymph nodes. Concomitant presence of multiple positive pelvic nodes, and para-aortic node involvement were found in relation to the presence of high-volume metastases in the pelvic lymph nodes. Both para-aortic node involvement and occurrence of nonvaginal relapses were reported in relation to lymphovascular space invasion. In EC, the extent of lymphatic dissemination may be predicted by taking into account these factors in this era of sentinel lymph node mapping.
