Predictors of epinephrine dispensing and allergy follow-up after emergency department visit for anaphylaxis
Annals of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology Sep 24, 2017
Motosue M, et al. - This study included emergency department (ED) patients treated for anaphylaxis, to assess guideline concordance and determine predictors of epinephrine auto-injector (EAI) dispensing and allergy/immunology (A/I) follow-up in this patient population. Of overall patients with anaphylaxis in the ED, 46.5% had EAI dispensing and 28.8% had A/I follow-up. The likelihood of EAI dispensing and A/I follow-up, respectively, were found to be related to patient age and triggers. Post-ED visit anaphylaxis management can be improved, with the potential to decrease future morbidity and mortality risk.
