Predictors of complications after direct-to-implant breast reconstruction with an acellular dermal matrix from a multicentre randomized clinical trial
British Journal of Surgery Jul 16, 2018
Negenborn VL, et al. - Factors that contribute to the occurrence of complications after direct-to-implant (DTI) acellular dermal matrix (ADM)-assisted breast reconstruction were ascertained. Analysing data obtained from the BRIOS (Breast Reconstruction In One Stage) study, researchers identified breast size as the most significant predictor of complications in DTI ADM-assisted breast reconstruction. They also noted that younger patients and those who received adjuvant chemotherapy required reoperation more frequently. Performing the technique preferably in patients with small to moderate sized breasts was recommended.
