Predictors of cardiogenic shock in cardiac surgery patients receiving intra-aortic balloon pumps

Iyengar A, et al. - Researchers performed characterization of predictors of postoperative cardiogenic shock in cardiac surgery patients with and without intra-aortic balloon pumps support. Findings suggested that postcardiac surgery patients with and without intra-aortic balloon pumps support differed in terms of factors associated with cardiogenic shock. Multivariable analysis revealed that only sex, previous percutaneous coronary intervention and preoperative arrhythmia remained significant among the intra-aortic balloon pumps cohort.
