Predictors of asthma relapse in patients who attended an Emergency Department
Allergy and Asthma Proceedings Jul 24, 2018
Pola-Bibian B, et al. - In this retrospective, noninterventional cohort study, researchers investigated potential predictors of asthma relapse among adult patients who attended the Emergency Department (ED) of a tertiary hospital in 2014 for an asthma exacerbation. Analysis of the subpopulation who experienced at least one relapse (returned to the ED < 15 days after the previous event), was carried out. the factors that were found to be predictive of a higher risk of relapse were having multiple ED visits in 1 year, presence of uncontrolled asthma, wheezing, ≥400 blood eosinophils/μL, or patients who had been discharged at the first ED visit.
