Predictors of 30 day readmission following percutaneous cholecystostomy
Journal of Surgical Research Dec 04, 2018
Fleming MM, et al. - Researchers identified patients who had percutaneous cholecystostomy (PC) from 2013 to 2014 from the National Readmission Database by the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project to ascertain the risk factors for readmission following PC. During the study period, they identified 3368 patients with 698 (20.7%) readmissions. Alcohol use, uncomplicated diabetes, congestive heart failure, depression, and metastatic cancer were noted to have a significant correlation with risk for readmission. Increase in care coordination starting at their index admission may benefit these patients.
