Predictors for pouchitis after ileal pouch-anal anastomosis for pediatric-onset ulcerative colitis
Journal of Surgical Research Apr 09, 2019
Koike Y, et al. - The predictive factors for the development of pouchitis after ileal pouch-anal anastomosis (IPAA) in the pediatric ulcerative colitis (UC) population were determined via retrospectively reviewing data of 54 patients with pediatric-onset UC who underwent IPAA in Mie University Hospital. Seventeen (31.5%) patients developed pouchitis within 5 y of follow-up. Multivariable analysis revealed the independent predictive value of preoperative cumulative steroid dose of >10,000 mg and >65% neutrophils just before IPAA for pouchitis development.
