Predictors and prognosis of left ventricular thrombus in post-myocardial infarction patients with left ventricular dysfunction after percutaneous coronary intervention
Journal of Thoracic Disease Sep 02, 2018
You J, et al. - Researchers used the Shanghai East Hospital PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention) database since 2012 to determine the predictors and prognosis of left ventricular thrombus (LVT) in 267 consecutive post-myocardial infarction (MI) patients with left ventricular dysfunction following contemporary PCI. Included patients had left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) < 0.45. The LVT group comprised 25 (9.36%) patients. Using Chi-square test, t-test or Kaplan-Meier survival analysis, comparison of baseline, angiographic, procedural characteristics and 1-year clinical outcomes was performed. The identified independent predictors of LVT formation in post-MI and LV dysfunction patients were the presence of left ventricular aneurysm, incomplete revascularization, higher SYNTAX score, and D-dimer level. These predictors were all linked to worse clinical outcomes in this study.
