Predictor of surgical outcomes in ankylosing spondylitis cervical spinal fracture: an at least 2 years follow-up retrospective study
Spine Dec 17, 2020
Gao Q, Zhang Z, Shao T, et al. - A retrospective study was performed to verify the prognostic factors of postoperative for cervical spine fracture patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS). Researchers evaluated preoperative and postoperative spinal cord function according to the Japanese Orthopaedic Association Scores and Improvement rate was estimated. Applying a visual analogue scale score, the neck pain severity was rated. The t-test and v2-test were applied to compare clinical data between the preoperative and postoperative groups. Adjusted odds ratios were obtained by using logistic univariate and multivariate regression analysis. The relationship between variables was assessed by using Pearson correlation coefficients. It was shown that basic AS treatment, SCI, and surgical methods are independent factors that affect the prognosis of cervical spine fracture patients with AS. As per the findings, it is controversial to conduct surgery and preoperative steroid application as soon as possible.
