Predictive value of the baseline electrocardiogram ST-segment pattern in cardiogenic shock: Results from the CardShock Study
Annals of Noninvasive Electrocardiology Jun 16, 2018
Javanainen T, et al. - The prevalence of different ST-segment patterns and their correlations with the cardiogenic shock (CS) etiology, clinical findings and 90-day mortality were studied via analyzing the baseline electrocardiogram of 196 patients included in a multinational prospective study of CS. In the unselected CS population, ST-segment elevation was noted to be associated with the acute coronary syndrome (ACS) etiology and high mortality. Researchers recommend considering other etiologies in cases where ST-segment elevation is not present. In ACS-related CS, similar prognosis is observed regardless of the ST-segment pattern when effectively revascularized.
