Predictive value of serum procalcitonin for both initial and repeated immunoglobulin resistance in Kawasaki disease: A prospective cohort study
Pediatric Rheumatology Dec 08, 2019
Shao S, Luo C, Zhou K, et al. - A total of 530 Kawasaki disease (KD, an acute general vasculitis of unknown etiology that mainly occurring in infants and children younger than 5 years of age) people were prospectively enrolled between January 2015 and March 2019 in order to testify the predictive validity of procalcitonin (PCT) for both initial and repeated intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) resistance in KD. For both initial and repeated IVIG resistance in KD, multivariate logistic regression analysis failed to recognize serum PCT level as an objective ominous factor. Therefore, in IVIG non-responders, serum PCT levels were notably higher, although to precisely prognosticate both initial and repeated IVIG resistance in KD, PCT may not be suitable as a single marker.
